Where is the paradise of dirty money? easy answer 😂😂😂
Just like moinmoin, I am actually a Swiss, even though having been a Swiss Abroad for 24 years now. I was born and grew up there, all trough the age of 21.
Not only I couldn't agree more with @imakefoodhappen on every point, I must also vividly protest at this awful (typically american), tacky, superficial and obviously too monied (as mostly focused on the price but how he of course can afford it….) and trash culture junky like (only further focus on night life and junk fast food) approach. I really hate that part of US culture and influence which has negatively impacted old European culture so much.
So…, all five points or "hates", but certainly #2-5 have to be refuted:
1. Price: Switzerland is certainly viewed from outside it as expensive. But, having also travelled a bit and relatives in a number of other countries that are very expensive, I can tell you that Switzerland is neither the only one nor, I think, the most expensive one. My main examples are Britain (for tourists), Denmark and Israel.
2. Service: All has really been said already by @imakefoodhappen. Just to add that for for sure get good service in many places as tips are not self-evident as has been explained and many a waiter will be very forthcoming but not overbearing as he also explained. That is just a silly thing to say and imfh explained why, it seems.
3. Children: As moinmoin says, you can certainly not say that, but it is even more such a silly thing to say (because restaurants, some of which may not be such champions on kids) are not the only thing and night life is for sure not for kids! A huge number of restaurants are yes very kids friendly with high chairs and the lot, plus childrens menus. Switzerland is awash with special attractions and facilities for children. Each village, let alone town is lined with a few very good and looked after childrens play ground. There are a toy museums and other museums with hands-on things for children. There are zoos in a few cities and a complete children's zoo in Rapperswil (belonging to Circus Knie) on the left hand shore of lake Zurich. Just as one of a huge number of examples, on the mountain on top of Beckenried (Klewenalp – Würzwheli), not far from Lurcerne where from Wolterman is speaking, there is is plenty for children (play grounds, toboganing and small children pony riding).
4. Rules – well I think that is great a place where those that want or have to sleep can actually do so and those who want late life there are well enough places to do so, too. and that with life life is also ridiculous. Bern, Basel, Zurich (Niederdorf/Oberdorf) as well as I am sure Lausanne and Geneva, so more the larger cities, plus Lugano (big time) there is plenty night life and open air concerts etc.
I really feel that if one is making tourist guides one has to a) know far more, far more deeply and b) paint an honest picture about things and not a tainted one (not even by your own personal tendency in needs and wants) and for not by US junky superficiality, cliquery and snobery. And… Lucerne was not the right place to comment on these aspects from as yes that is a rather conservative city and not a nigh life or in most ways main, main one.
that point of mix of culture is nonsense , japan is mono culture doesnt mean people hate japan
i dont like swizerland
Great Video! Greetings from Switzerland: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=na1HndTK9pE

Cool #sdadan
Cheese and chocolate!
How does Switzerland compare to Iceland when it comes to expense?
Will I save money if I just go and spend all day on the mountains herding goats (if people still do that) and relaxing, and have bread and cheese for dinner? (Heidi, the book, anyone?) Like seriously that's the only reason I want to go to Switzerland is to spend all day on the mountains, enjoying the fresh air and peace and quiet…
I like the children thing. I do not like children!
Luzerne is the wrong place to visit if you want to see mountains. The highest near there is not even 2,000m. To see real mountains you need to visit the Bernese Oberland where you'll see 4,000m mountains. Luzerne you visit if you want to mingle with other tourists on buses.
We do NOT have german culture. The language is called Swissgerman it sounds like german but the german do not understand us. Anyway our cultures are quit different and that’s why most of swiss ppl do preffer albanian, italian etc ppl over German ppl
We have a lot of Nightlife it’s just that Tourists can‘t afford to go.
And the service thing we get a lot but it’s kinda different for us. We like space so we prefer not to have the the stuff come over all 5 seconds it’s considered polite. And maybe the waitress are a little less friendly to tourists since they often don’t tipp them since they don’t really get how it works in Switzerland.
Wolters WORD?
I'm not swiss, but I have lived there a few years and this is the most kid friendly place ever. They love children compared to the US. This is what I miss about Switzerland. I think your friend probably came off rude and that's why kids were allowed. They are very big on being polite.
Switzerland is more expensive then Norway
Good way to keep the riff-raff out : be an expensive country and don't have much of a nightlife.
Hope they can keep the U Know Who to a minimum so that Switzerland doesn't go the way of it's neighbors .. once they let too many of them in they will not be the same
Switzerland is very expensive
Anyone Swiss out there who can recommend places to eat in Zurich and Geneva. I’m going soon
Well I like to compare the Swiss to a coconut. Hard to get to know, but once you crack that hull, they are very soft on the inside. In Switzerland it isn‘t easy to make friends, but from the friends you make you can expect almost anything.
i dont agree with the nighlife thing… you can go to zurich (langstrasse) and there is always something going on or in lucerne Wednesday Friday Saturday… i mean its not like london or new york but there are things going on 🙂
Gruess vumene Schwizer, ich verhau di in Luzern Späckschwarte
Austria vs Switzerland? Which is better for towns, authenticity, food, and music? I already know they both have great landscapes.
Im swiss 😁
what swiss people do not like are loud, extroverted people who constantly disturb their privacy … they are perceived as less friendly, because even a simple service wants to be treated respectfully, not like 2nd grade … they are not unfriendly, but not superficially and do not want to be friends with everyone for a few hours, but for a lifetime … for americans this is certainly difficult, but when you visit a country, you should get involved with the people and try to understand their motives, as well as her story…just visit basel, if you not happy with the rest of switzerland, never heard something bad about
For me I dont like the fact that everyone is smoking on the street, even more public smoking than in France.
Don't listen to Danilo Bizzano !! The food in the supermarket is FAR more expensive than that in the US. STAY AWAY it will cost you !! LOL LOL LOL
Yes, please listen to this guy who goes to Bern, Basel, Interlaken and Zurich and pays $40.00 for a Happy Meal. Dumb as the day is long. But please…STAY AWAY from CH….there are too many tourists for my liking (Iam one) so please STAY AWAY and listen to this guy !!!
The thing is in swizerland you earn more pay more and pay more taxes
Been living in Switzerland for 12 years and the comments about service is generally accurate unless in a 5 star hotel. If there is something incorrect about a meal, such as meat is undercooked, and you complain, many times they will argue with you about why it isn't rather than correct the situation. Complaints are taken quite personally here.
Also, while the ability to linger is nice sometimes, when ready to pay and leave, it is often very difficult to get someone to bring the bill in a timely manner. Quick tip, when you receive the bill, IMMEDIATELY give them the cash or credit card back with bill, don't let them leave. Otherwise, you're likely to wait another 15 minutes for them to come back again just to have you actually pay. Once I had to wait almost 30 minutes for the bill. I only received it after I went to the server station and told them if I don't get the bill in 5 minutes, I'm leaving without paying. They brought it.
Ironically, there is the idea of Swiss hospitality and many hospitality schools, yet in reality, it is far from perfect. To be fair however, there are also many places I have received excellent service, but they are not the majority.
I’ll be in Wengen in 3 weeks!!!
Should we rent car or take train to travel around in Swiss?
The 2 major supermarket chains in Switzerland have restaurants: Coop restaurants and Migros restaurants. It is cheaper than any other restaurant in Switzerland, which means you can have a decent lunch or early dinner for under $20
Zurich has one of the best nightlife‘s in Europe
"… you'll love the landscape, check it out" – Turns camera, shows my neighbourhood. Yay =D
Man go to guarda
